Guest: Davi J. Schmidt
Davi J. Schmidt aka “Davi” (pronounced “Davey”) has a rich Alto voice. She is a student of her craft and true aficionado & historian of ‘The Blues’ and ‘Vintage Soul’. Her influences include: Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Sugar Pie Desanto, Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, as well as ChakaKahn. Davi, without any formal musical training or industry experience, formed her first band, 3 years ago – Davi & The Fuzz. She now has also formed a Jazz ensemble called Davi & The PSA. Additionally, she sings as featured vocalist with many local bands and jazz quartets in the area. She recently did a photo shoot in Los Angeles with a high fashion photographer, Inez Lewis (IL Creative) and recorded 6 music tracks produced by 3x Emmy Winner, Bill Jolly and Michael Rutty in Philadelphia. Her website (Davi-music.com) launched on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, respectively.
Davi is located in the Pacific Northwest, Porland, OR and hails from Northern California. Unlike most artists who seek instant fame and naively pursue the holy grail of a recording contract without adequate training and paying dues, Davi is laser focused on continually honing her craft as a vocalist and relentlessly pursues the chance to make and collaborate on great music with the most talented musicians in the industry. Her appetite to ingest as much music as possible is voracious and she delights in studying "the greats.” Her musical approach fuses multiple genres, yet delivers an authentic and unique musical message to thrilled audiences.
